MEET Doctora Hellen Umana!

Hello!  I am a doctor with over 9 years of experience working in a clinical setting, mostly in the public sector. Most recently as an MD with the CCSS (Caja Costarricense Seguro Social), seeing numerous patients each day. As part of my daily routine examining patients, I assess symptoms, provide diagnoses and treatment options based on my conclusions. My diagnostic skills come from being an astute observer and an exemplary researcher. 

I strongly believe in providing patients with all the necessary information that they require, not only regarding their medical concern at the moment, but in a way that they can prevent more health issues in a close future. I know how to reach patients in a calm way so they can rely on me and my team. 

I am a team player, as I believe in collaboration and assistance and even asking for a second opinion, in order to provide a better service for the patients. Even with the lacking in equipment and the long waiting times that I experienced in the public sector, I have assumed a leadership role in some situations through a calming demeanor, always having the benefit of the patient in mind. 

In addition to my general medical  professional training, I have also received a diploma for my specialty of podiatry at the Marist University of Guadalajara Mexico, for which I specialized in foot management of ulcers and other related pathologies.
